As someone that came on line in the early days of AOL, I never really thought I would ever attempt to do a blog of any kind. I used AOL to simply chat with friends, read some happenings, etc., but never for anything of any great importance. Then a few years ago, I got a Facebook account, after a yr or so of giving my wife a hard time for spending time on another useless social media site. I now fully understand why some refer to Facebook as Crackbook, because given the chance, it can become addictive, causing ones curiosity as to what all their "friends" have going on, or what events are coming up, or what political figure is going to bring down America and its allies, to take over!
When my wife and I put together the Restoration Ride, a cycling event we put on each March, in order to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of a civil war era Grist Mill, I learned quickly how useful Facebook could be for promotions and event updates. It has provided us a platform to not only promote our own event, but other events, both cycling and BBQ, put on by other groups.
Since learning how helpful using social media can be, I thought I would attempt a blog. I expect to keep subject matter limited to cycling, cooking or BBQ'ing, Stephs hiking adventures and of course grandbabies!!
Its a new thing for me, so I cant guarantee quality of writing or subject matter, but hopefully it will be fun and informative to a degree!
